Hello, I'm Devonne!

I am a master trainer offering services that include one-on-one personal training, small group training, weight loss coaching, TRX training, and group exercise classes with specialties in rehabilitation, injury prevention and weight loss. I currently offer my services at the Jewish Community Center of DC in Dupont Circle, at The Pierce School Lofts on Capitol Hill NE and in-home training by appointment. I work with individuals from age 7-92 years old.

I started my career in health and fitness over 22 years ago.  After my best friend became paralyzed in an accident, I was inspired to become a physical therapist. Spending time with my friend during her journey to rehabilitation, I became aware of the power we have over changing the course of our healing, personal health and quality of life.  For 10 years, I worked with patients and clients with neurological, cardiac, and orthopedic challenges in a variety of settings including rehabilitation, acute care hospitals, geriatrics, sports medicine and orthopedic clinics. I currently hold a B.S. in Kinesiology-Biophysics from the University of Maryland at College Park and am certified through the National Academy of Sports Medicine certification.

In 2003, I decided to enter into the fitness industry as a personal trainer with a post-rehab specialty, which has allowed me to continue my work with injured individuals but also allows me to help healthy people achieve their fitness goals.  Since then, it has been quite a journey into education. I have worked as the Asst. Strength and Conditioning Coach at National Cathedral School where I assisted in the programming, training, and conditioning of over 150 athletes in 10 different sports and taught physical education classes. At Howard University, I was an adjunct professor teaching academic courses introducing degree candidates to the discipline of athletic training and weight training.  I train and educate athletes from ages 4 and up who are in elementary/middle/high school, college, and at the professional level focusing services on injury prevention, strengthen conditioning, and rehabilitation.  In February of 2017, I began training and educating individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities.

I believe that once you achieve your goals, there is always room to progress to the next level.  Exercise is a lifestyle and progress always yields results.  The way to an effective lifestyle change and successful fitness program is a solid beginning!
